Rachel Atherton wins UK national Round 2

Animal Commencals Rachel Atherton took the world class field by storm at the 2nd round of the UK national series in Innerliethan Scotland last weekend.

Rachel absolutely dominated the weekend taking both qualifying and the finals by huge margins as well as finishing 30th overall and putting most of the men to shame.

Saturdays qualifier proved to be the confidence inspiring result Rachel needed after losing out at the first World Cup to World number 1 Sabrina Jonnier just 2 weeks ago. Her amazing time of 3.17.276 was a clear 10 seconds quicker than former World Cup champion Tracey Moseley, the tight and technical course at Innerliethan suiting her down to the ground.

As the sun dried the course on Sunday it was clear race times were going to topple those of yesterdays qualifiers. With Rachel posting such a good time on Saturday it was going to need an amazing ride by her to improve, she certainly didn't disappoint.

With Tracey in the hot seat with a time of 3.20.10 Rachel only had to match her time of qualifying to take the win. Despite having a 'few moments' on course she crossed the line a clear 11 seconds ahead with an amazing 3.09.10

A time not only quick enough to win the elite womens field but also one that slotted her in the  top 30 overall.

Rachel now leads the series with two clear victories and will be looking to bring some of her amazing recent form to the 2nd round of the World Cup this weekend.

Brothers Dan and Gee opted to ride the Nissan Qasqhai event in central London. Riding in front of crowds in excess of 50,000 the pair proved not only can they rip on the World Cup circuit they can also hold their own on the world freeride circuit.
